Family and Matrimonial Litigation

Iain has represented clients in a wide array of family and matrimonial cases, involving contentious and non-contentious divorce proceedings, spousal adultery, maintenance, custody and care and control, and division of matrimonial assets. In the course of his practice, Iain has assisted in matters which involved the valuation, tracing and division of assets totaling over S$20 million.

In his practice of family law, Iain has also regularly assisted clients in mediation sessions to resolve matrimonial disputes amicably. He has also provided legal advice on other matrimonial issues including judicial separation, annulments of marriages, enforcement as well as variation applications.

Civil Litigation

He has represented clients in other litigation matters, ranging from contractual claims to enforcement of debts to personal injury claims. He has also given legal advice in relation to negligence and probate matters.

Real Estate and Conveyancing

Iain also handles real estate transactions, including the acquisition, financing, leasing and sale of commercial and residential properties. The complementary nature between his practice in matrimonial and real estate law allows Iain to provide his matrimonial clients with an end to end service after divorce proceedings have concluded.

Education

Iain graduated from Singapore Management University (SMU). During his time at SMU, he served on the committee of multiple clubs and societies, including the Singapore Management University Law Society.

After graduation, Iain underwent his pupillage with one of the biggest law firms in Singapore and after being admitted to the Singapore Bar, continued on as an associate specialising in Funds and Investment Management. He then decided to pursue his interest in litigation and joined Engelin Teh Practice LLC in 2015.

Notable Cases

Iain has been involved in more significant litigation cases, including the following:

  • Successfully varied an order which provided an individual with only 7 hours of supervised access per week to his children to care and control of his children for 5.5 days per week.
  • Represented an individual in divorce proceedings that involved assets of over S$20 million.

“Thanks for all your support and encouragement the past few months. It’s not always easy to balance the type of work you do with such empathy, but you did and it gave me back some of my confidence too.

Your interesting and unconventional perspectives have also been enlightening. Here’s wishing you all the best in your career, relationships, health and life. It was a blessing to have crossed paths with you.

God Bless!
