COVID-19 and Divorce

If you are seeking to divorce

Our firm, Engelin Teh Practice LLC, has received governmental exemption and is allowed to stay open to advice and serve clients with urgent matters.

When the cracks in the marriage are no longer tolerable and you wish to file a divorce, you can still seek legal advice during the circuit breaker period and relevant divorce papers can be prepared during this period.

Conflict in the family may be more rampant during the circuit-breaker, so you may wish to make the necessary mental and practical arrangements / preparations before broaching the subject matter with your spouse:

  1. i) To consider the method of communicating divorce to your spouse – whether face to face communication would be preferable or through any other means where physical contact is to be minimized; and
  2. ii) Contingency plans post-divorce announcement, such as where to live, care arrangements for yourself and your children, identifying proper channels of family and friendly support.
